Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 April 2026
Packetloss is a Packet.ai product, operated by The Gatepost LLC, a company registered in the USA (number 92-2079175). This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.
What we collect
- Crowd report fingerprints. When you submit a report via the "Report an issue" button, we store a SHA-256 hash of your IP address combined with the service identifier. This is used to rate-limit reports and reject duplicates. The fingerprint is automatically nullified 24 hours after the report is submitted.
- Server logs. Our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) may log standard request metadata (IP, user-agent, path, timestamp) for abuse prevention and service reliability. We do not tie these logs to any account or reporting identity.
What we don't collect
- No user accounts. Phase 1 of Packetloss has no sign-up or login.
- No cookies.
- No analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party trackers.
- No email addresses, names, or contact details.
- No raw IP addresses in our application database, only the salted hash described above.
How our monitoring works
Packetloss combines three signals: official vendor status pages (which we poll on a fixed schedule), synthetic HTTP checks we run from our own infrastructure, and crowd-sourced reports. Polling and synthetic checks involve no visitor data. They are requests we make to public vendor endpoints. Only crowd reports touch visitor-level data, and only in the limited way described above.
Where data is stored
Application data (service metadata, crowd reports, incident records) is stored in Cloudflare D1 and Cloudflare KV, hosted by Cloudflare. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third party.
Your rights
Because we do not store user accounts or identifiable personal data, there is typically no individual record to request or delete. If you believe a crowd report tied to you should be removed, email hello@getpacket.ai with the service name and approximate time, and we will investigate.
California residents
We do not sell or share personal information. Under the CCPA, California residents have the right to know what data we hold, request its deletion, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, email hello@getpacket.ai.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
